IC Rocket League Team Dominates Simpson 3-0
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College Esports Rocket League team of Glenn Conway, Dwight Duijneveld, and Josh Hallanger challenged Simpson College Wednesday evening in Meraki Gaming Center. The IC team dominated on the defensive end that included a huge offensive attack in game three that propelled to a 3-0 final score. With the victory, the Rocket League team currently stands at 2-2 this season.
Game 1: Illinois College 1, Simpson College 0
In the opening match of the night, IC and Simpson battled back-and-forth defensively as both teams had trouble finding the back of the net. However, Conway broke the tied and got the early victory by scoring the lone goal that was assisted by Hallanger.
Game 2: Illinois College 1, Simpson College 0
The defensive battled continued in game two as both teams displayed great saves that forced overtime. In the sudden-death overtime period, Hallanger netted the finishing goal with a really nice aerial play at a game time of 6:39. Conway also had a dominant defensive performance that included five saves.
Game 3: Illinois College 5, Simpson College 1
IC came out very aggressive on offense and sealed the victory by scoring five goals and only allowing one goal. In the offensive eruption, Hallanger and Conway each netted two goals while Duijneveld topped the assist chart with two.

For the match, Hallanger and Conway lead the way with three goals scored each while Duijneveld recorded a team-high two assists.
"We had an absolutely dominating defensive performance and it took Simpson 16 minutes to get their first goal against us. I am looking forward to tomorrow's match against Ohio Northern as we plan on making sure we don't allow them to beat us in the aerial game and try to force them into our ground style game" said Head Coach David Seering.
The trio will be back in action on Thursday, February 22 facing off against the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University starting at 5:45PM in Jacksonville, Illinois.
