Blueboy Tennis Earn Road Victory Over Westminster College
Box Score FULTON, Mo. - The Illinois College men's tennis team started a four-match road trip with a visit to Westminster College (Mo) for a non-conference match Sunday afternoon. The Blueboys took down the Blue Jays by the final score of 7-2 for their eighth victory of the season.
The Blueboys got off to a tremendous 3-0 start by winning all three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of Grayson Dupre and Andrus Dupre took down their opponents by the final score of 8-3. The No. 2 doubles team included Jeff Wernsing and Momir Vickovic eliminated their competition by the final score of 8-2. The final doubles match of the day included IC's Allen Oakley and Antonio Loaiza as the duo worked together to a 8-4 victory.
In singles matches, IC earned the overall by the final score of 7-2 by earning four-of-six single match victories. The No. 2 and No. 3 singles match that include the Dupre twins, both student-athletes eliminated their respective opponents in straight sets.
The No. 4 singles match that included Oakley and WC's Hugo Jover a thriller from start to finish. In the opening set, Oakley took the early lead and paced to a 6-3 set victory. In the second set, Jover returned the favor to Oakley with a 7-6 victory that forced a tiebreaker set. In the tiebreaker set, Oakley went point-for-point with Jover and took the late advantage to a 10-8 victory.
IC earned its final singles match victory of the day from Vickovic in the No. 5 singles match. Vickovic opened the match with a 6-3 set victory which was followed up with a 6-1 second set victory that won the match.
The Blueboys will have one day off before hitting the road to Monmouth College for a Midwest Conference match on Tuesday, April 16 starting at 3:30 PM in Monmouth, Illinois.

With the victory, the Blueboys earn their second MWC victory of the season and have a MWC record of 2-3.

With the split, IC currently stands at 7-10 overall and 1-3 in MWC play.
