IC Men's Tennis Take Down The University Of Olivet In Minooka
MINOOKA, Ill. - The Illinois College men's tennis hit the road for the first time since March 2 with a visit to The University of Olivet Sunday afternoon which was played at Minooka High School. The Blueboys used a early lead in doubles competition and sealed the victory with four singles match victories that generated the final score of 6-3. With the victory, IC now stands at 6-6 overall on the season.
In the doubles competition, the Blueboys earned two victories that came from the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In the No. 1 match, the duo of Jeff Wernsing and Glenn Conway pressed the accelerator on and dominated their opponents by the final of 8-2. In the No. 2 match, identical twins Grayson Dupre and Andrus Dupre defeated their opponets by the score of 8-4. In the No. 3 doubles match, IC's Allen Oakley and Antonio Loaiza went point-for-point with their opponents but fell late to drop the set by the score of 6-8.
In singles matches, the Blueboys captured four victories that lead to their sixth win of the season. In the No. 1 singles match, Wernsing has his hands full with his opponent as the match went point-for-point in the opening set. Wernsing battled hard and won the opening set by the score of 7-6. In the No. 2 singles, Conway used his great athleticism to put his opponent away in straight sets by the score of 6-0, and 6-4.
The singles match of the day was G. Dupre in the No. 3 singles match. In the opening set, Dupre got off to a early lead and paced to a 6-4 victory. However, in the second set, Olivet's Alex Jonas took the set that forced a tiebreaker set. In the tiebreaker set, it was all Dupre as took down his opponent by the score of 10-5.
The No. 4 singles match was a great match between IC's A. Dupre and Olivet's Josh Moore. Dupre opened the match by taking the first set by the score of 6-2. In the second set, Dupre battled Moore to a 7-5 victory.
The Blueboys will return home to Bellatti Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 30 hosting Illinois Valley Community College at 10:00AM.

With the victory, the Blueboys earn their second MWC victory of the season and have a MWC record of 2-3.
