Drake Named Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week
GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's Julia Drake was named the Midwest Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.
Drake, a senior from New Athens, Ill., went 3-1 with a save over her five appearances on the week.
She opened on Tuesday by tossing a no-hitter with eight strikeouts (in five innings) in a win over Lawrence. Julia returned to the circle in the nightcap to throw a scoreless inning with a strikeout and earn her first save of the season. Drake threw a one-hitter the following day at Ripon with nine strikeouts (in five innings). In her victory over Beloit on Saturday, Drake scattered two hits over seven shutout innings with 12 strikeouts.
For the week, Drake logged 20 innings of work, allowing 11 hits and five runs with 33 strikeouts.
IC is back in action Wednesday when it hosts Monmouth in a Midwest Conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
