Lady Blues Fall Twice to Lake Forest

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Illinois College women's softball team suffered their first two losses in Midwest Conference play, dropping a twin bill to Lake Forest at Jessica Kamp Field on Sunday.

The Lady Blues fell to 11-18 and 6-2 in conference while Lake Forest improved to 17-9 and 8-0.

Game 1 (IC 2 LF 6)
Lake Forest capitalized on five two-out runs in the first two innings, including four in the first to take a five-run lead before IC got its offense going. 

Claudia Adam's first home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning starting he scoring for the Lady Blues. Brooke Loveall singled to score Cheyenne Anderson in the bottom of the fourth inning, shortening the deficit to 5-2. Unfortunately, the Lady Blues couldn't get any closer.

Julia Drake took the loss to fall to 6-8 on the season. Anderson led the offense with a pair of hits. 

Game 2 (IC 7 LF 8)
Lake Forest completed the sweep by breaking open a tight game with five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-1 lead before IC staged a furious comeback.

The Lady Blues rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six times. Adam singled home Elysia Hand before Michelle Maag scored on a wild pitch. Adam scored on Allison Mortland's ground out. Kayla Serpa walked with the bases loaded to cut the deficit to 8-5. The Lady Blues would tack on two more runs to get within one but that is where the rally ended.

Taylor Henry suffered the loss in the circle while Calynn Gicante rapped out a pair of hits while Emma Hardiek drove in a two.

IC is back in action for a Wednesday doubleheader against Monmouth College at Jessica Kamp Field. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
