Anthony Flores Named Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College athletic department is excited to announce the hiring of Anthony Flores as the next head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams.

Flores has worked as a part-time assistant track and field throws coach and a TRIO academic coach at Illinois College since 2022. He assisted the track and field program with strength and conditioning training, scheduling practices and meetings, and managing the team's social medias.

"I want to say thank you to Illinois College's Director of Athletics, Meghan Roman, and Illinois College itself for this tremendous opportunity. I am truly grateful for the chance to lead the men & women's cross-country teams as the head coach while still being able to coach the throwing events. I am excited to contribute to the growth and success of the athletes, and I am committed to fostering a culture of hard work, dedication, and unity. Together, we'll strive for greatness and create lasting memories on and off the track," said Flores.

Flores received his Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management from Illinois College. He went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Sports Management from Cal State University of Long Beach. During his time coaching at Illinois College, he has led student-athletes to break three school records, claimed three individual MWC champion titles, and has led eight student-athletes to All-Conference honors.
