Women's XC Picked Eighth in MWC Preseason Poll

GRINNELL, Iowa. - The Midwest Conference (MWC) has announced their preseason poll results for the sport of women's cross country. The Lady Blues has been selected to finish eighth in the MWC standings in the 2023 season. 

The reigning MWC Champion, Ripon College have been selected as the favorite to win the 2023 title this season receiving 62 points. 

Illinois College returns two members from last year's squad in Claire Peters and Kairy Mercado-Ramos while adding three first-year's to the mix. Last season at the MWC Championship, Peters finished 51st overall with a time of 28:13.02 in the 6K run as Mercado-Ramos finished in 64th place with a time of 29:21.04.

This season, the Lady Blues are lead by first-year Head Coach Anthony Flores.

Illinois College will open their 2023 season on the road participating in the H.W. Wright Classic hosted by Millikin University on September 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Decatur, Illinois.
