Lady Blues Golf Finish Fourth At SLIAC Championships
METAMORA, Ill. - The IC women's golf team wrapped up action at the three-day St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships with the final round on Tuesday. The Lady Blues finished the final round with a team score of 327 which brought their overall team score to 1,001 for a fourth-place overall team finish. IC was awarded the SLIAC Team Sportsmanship award.
The Lady Blues was led by Kate Burr in the championships with an overall score of 243. Burr shot a seven-over par of 79 in the final round that included a birdie on hole 16 and 10 pars. Burr finished the championships with two rounds under 80 that earned a 14th-place overall finish. Burr was named to the Second-Team All-SLIAC team.
Alyvia Burr led IC on the final round with a six-over par 78 that included a team-high four birdies. In the final nine holes, Burr accumulated two birdies, three bogeys, and four straight pars for a one-over par finish. Burr finished the championships with a total score of 249 which earned a tie for 17th-place overall.
Katie Mae Milhiser had a final round of 86 that included a birdie on hole three. Milhiser finished the championships with a total score of 252 which earned a 21st-place overall finish.
Amy Fowler had her best round of the tournament in the final round as she shot a score of 84 that included eight pars. Fowler improved seven strokes on the final day to earn a tie for 31st-place overall finish.
Hannah Harpster recorded six pars on the front-nine holes in her final round. Harpster ended the championships with a score of 265 which earned a tie for 33rd-place overall.
IC had two student-athletes play as individuals in the championships. First-year Shelby Seiler had a great final round as she shot an eight-over par 80 that included three birdies. With duplicate rounds of 80 and a round of 90, Seiler earned a 19th-place overall finish.
Sophomore Emily Guest was the final individual for IC as she finished the championships with a final score of 280 that included a birdie on hole 12 on the final round. Guest battled through the conditions to earn a 38th-overall finish.
"Metamora Fields was a nice change of scenery this season for conference. Our team was very proud of our sportsmanship award, while also breaking the fourth-place tie by a stroke" said junior Kate Burr.
For the final round, IC finished with their best team score of the championships with a score of 327 that included 10 birdies and 44 pars.
"We had an excellent final round finishing with the second best score of the day. I'm very proud of the way the team battled through tough conditions to move up the leaderboard and post a solid conference finish for us going forward" said Head Coach Josh Edison.
The Lady Blues have officially concluded the 2023 season but look forward to the spring season in 2024.
