Women's Golf Crowned Champions At Country Club Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College women's golf team hosted the 2024 Country Club Classic Monday at the Country Club golf course. The solar esclipse did not faze the Lady Blues as the team constructed a spectacular round and finished with team score of 322 which crowned IC as the champions. IC defeated Blackburn College, Concordia University Wisconsin, and Westminster College in the tournament. For the tournament, the Lady Blues took the first, second, fourth, fifth, and eighth individual places. 

Leading the way for the Lady Blues and the overall tournament was junior Alyvia Burr with a six-over par 78. Burr started her round on hole eight with a bogey and finished the first nine holes averaging par-golf with a score of +1.  In the first nine holes, Burr recorded two birdies which were on holes 12 and 14. For the round, Burr recorded nine pars that helped conquer the first place podium. 

A Springfield native in Katie Mae Milhiser was chasing Burr the whole round and captured a second overall finish with a seven-over par 79. Milhiser had a marvelous round that featured a team-high 10 pars and a birdie on hole 10. For her splits, Milhiser fired a four-over par on her first nine holes and three-over par on her final nine holes. 
 
Also contributing to the team score was Hannah Harpster as she turned in a nine-over 81 score that earned a fourth overall finish. In her round, Harpster collected nine pars and fired a three-over par on her first nine holes. 

Rounding out the top-five overall finishers for the tournament was IC's Emily Guest as she turned in her best tournament score of the season with a 12-over par 84. 

Callie Hughes had a solid round as he earned a eighth overall finish with a score of 98. 

The Lady Blues will hit the road and participate in the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling  hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on April 13-14 in Normal, Illinois.
