Lady Blues Golf Rank Fourth After Day One Of SLIAC Championships

METAMORA, Ill. - The Illinois College women's golf team began St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships with their opening round on Sunday. The Lady Blues finished the day with a team score of 330 which currently ranks fourth out of 10 teams in the team standings. 

IC was led by Kate Burr with a four over-par 76 with splits of 37 and 39. Burr started the back-nine with a fantastic birdie on hole 10 and she followed up with another birdie on hole 13. With a great opening round, Burr currently ranks in a three-way tie for eighth-place overall.

Katie Mae Milhiser had a spectacular opening round as she shot a seven over-par 79. Milhiser also started the back-nine with a birdie on hole 10. After day one, Milhiser currently stands in a five-way tie for 11th-place overall.  

First-year Shelby Seiler had a career-best round finishing with an eight over-par 80 with splits of 41 and 39. Seiler continued the trend as she earned a birdie on hole 10 that started her back-nine round. 

Amy Fowler (87), Alyvia Burr (88) and Hannah Harpster (91) contributed to the team score. Emily Guest also participated in the opening round as she shot a round of 94.  For day one, IC had five birdies led by Kate Burr with two. 

"We got off to a solid start. Kate Burr and Katie Mae Milhiser really set the tone for us with scores under 80. We look forward to moving up the leaderboard tomorrow" said Head Coach Josh Edison

The Lady Blues will continue action at the SLIAC Championships on Monday, October 9 with the second round starting at 10:00 AM at Metamora Fields Golf Course.
