Lady Blues Soccer Suffer Road Loss To Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa. - The Illinois College women's soccer team continued Midwest Conference play with a visit to Grinnell College on Saturday. The Lady Blues suffered a loss to Grinnell by the final score of 0-4. IC now stands at 4-6-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the MWC. 

The Pioneers came out very aggressive on offense with eight shots on goal in the first 16 minutes of action. First-year goalkeeper Sophia Kriegesmann did not allow a goal and recorded one save during that stretch. In the 17th minute, IC had a great opportunity to score when Olivia Ralston took a shot on goal that was saved by Peyton Dixon. In the 20th minute, IC's Darian Blackburn had a chance to break the tie but missed just wide right. The Lady Blues and Pioneers battled to a 0-0 tie to halftime. 

Grinnell scored all four of their goals in the second half to earn the victory.  For the match, IC took three shots which were taken by Abbi Renwick, Ralston, and Blackburn. Kriegesmann represented IC in goal and recorded six saves. 

The Lady Blues will continue MWC play hosting Monmouth College on Tuesday, October 10 at 4:30 PM in England Stadium.
