IC Women's Soccer Suffer MWC Loss To Lawrence

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The IC women's soccer team continued Midwest Conference play as the team hosted Lawrence University Saturday evening. The Lady Blues battled the Vikings but fell short by the final score of 4-2. IC now stands at 5-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the MWC. 

In the first 12 minutes of action, Lawrence got off to a 2-0 lead on goals from Kylie Melonis and Cambrie Rickard. In the 14th minute, IC was rewarded a corner kick when Olivia Ralston sent in a fantastic entry ball that found the head of Lauren Sinclair for the goal. In the final five minutes of the first half, IC and Lawrence each added a goal. IC's Erin O'Connell netted a goal with just a few seconds remaining in the half. The Prairie Fire took the 3-2 lead into halftime. 

In the 54th minute, Ralston had a great opportunity to tie the match as her shot outside the 18-yard box went just wide. Lawrence added an insurance goal in the 65th minute from Sophia Morin that made the final score of 4-2.

For the match, Ralston and O'Connell led IC with two shots each. Cassidy Tacker represent IC in goal as she recorded eight saves. 

The Lady Blues will host Faith Baptist Bible College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, October 17 starting at 4:00 PM for Senior Day. The Lady Blues will begin Senior Day at 2:20 PM.
