Women's Tennis Drop Tightly Contested Match To Lewis and Clark

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College women's tennis team had a four-day layoff came to a close with a home match against Lewis and Clark Community College Wednesday evening at Bellatti Tennis Complex. The Lady Blues battled the Blue Storm to the finish but came up just short by the final score of 4-5.  

The Lady Blues got off to a slow start in double matches as IC earned one doubles match victory. In the No. 2 doubles match, the duo of Hannah Lueke and Chloe Plough battled their opponents back-and-forth but ultimately dropped the match by the score of 6-8. 

IC earned three single matches victories that came from No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions. In the No. 4 singles match, Madison Eastin went point-for-point against Morgan Keefe in the opening set and used a late set rally to defeat Keefe 7-6. In the second set, the back-and-forth battle continued when Eastin took a two point lead to win the match 5-3. 

In the No. 5 singles match, Sabrina Ingram and her opponent Alyssa Garcia went point-for-point in set one when Ingram won back-to-back sets to take the opening set by the score of 6-4. S. Ingram dominated in set two and took down Garcia by the score of 6-1. 

The final singles match victory came in the No. 6 single match as IC earned that match by forfeit.   

The Lady Blues will return to Bellatti Tennis Complex this Friday, March 22 taking on the Owls of Mississippi University for Womens starting at 2:00PM in Jacksonville, Illinois.
