Lady Blues Tennis Conclude Action At MWC Individual Tournament

MADISON, Wis. - The Illinois College women's tennis team traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and participated in the two-day Midwest Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament. The Lady Blues concluded the MWC tournament with four singles and one doubles victories.  

The MWC tournament began with several doubles competitions. IC's Michelle Maag and Lily Ingram represented IC in the No. 1 doubles matches as the duo fell short to Monmouth's Ivana Stefanova and Kathi Ramsenthaler in the opening match by the score of 8-2. Maag and L. Ingram faced Ripon's No. 1 doubles team of Chase Polyak and Hadley Berendsen in the consolation semifinals match. Maag and Ingram earned four set victories but fell by the final score of 4-8.

IC's Hannah Lueke and Sabrina Ingram competed as the No. 2 doubles team for the Lady Blues. The duo challenged Cornell's No. 2 doubles team of Tansy Graves and Ashley Mink and fell short by the final score of 2-8. Lueke and S. Ingram faced Lawrence's No. 2 doubles team of Chloe Lamb and Claire Bildsten in the consolation finals match as the match went point-for-point. The Lawrence's duo won the battle by the final score of 7-8.  

The No. 3 doubles team of Madison Eastin and Chloe Plough defeated Lawrence's No. 3 doubles team in the opening match by the final score of 8-4. Eastin and Plough challenged Grinnell's No. 3 doubles team of Anika Sheth and Sydney Marin in the semifinals match but fell short.

IC's Maag and Lueke represented the Lady Blues in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches. Maag and Lueke faced very tough competition and dropped both matches in straight sets. 

Lily Ingram participated in the No. 3 single matches as she had a fantastic tournament. Ingram challenged Cornell's Audrey Small in her opening match as she dropped the opening set but responded by winning the second set by the score of 6-2. Ingram battled Small but fell short in the tie-breaker set by the score of 10-4. Ingram faced Lawrence's Logan Kane in the consolation finals match where she defeated Kane by the final score of 8-4.    

Eastin competed as the No. 4 singles player for IC. Eastin defeated Ripon's Yeva Pipan by the scores of 6-0 and 6-2 in her first match. Eastin challenged Lake Forest's Sara Lopez in the semifinals match as the opening set went back-and-forth to a 6-4 Lopez victory. Eastin battled in the final set but fell short. 

Sabrina Ingram represented IC in the No. 5 single matches. Ingram defeated Ripon's Isabella DeMeuse in straight sets in her first match by the scores of 6-0 and 6-4. Ingram faced Lake Forest's Kate Feist in the semifinals match as she fell in both sets. 

Plough played as the No. 6 singles player for IC. Plough dropped the opening set to Ripon's Aubrey Malotky but responded with a victory in set two by the score of 6-2 that forced a tie-breaker set. Plough and Malotky went point-for-point in the final set when Plough ultimately won the set by the score of 10-8. Plough challenged Lake Forest's Rebecca Daskal in the semifinals match but dropped both sets. 

The Lady Blues qualified for the MWC Team Tournament which will be played in the spring of 2024.
