Volleyball Wins Twice in Home Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College volleyball team made the most of its last home appearance of the season by winning a pair of matches at Sherman Gymnasium.

IC opened the day by sweeping a Midwest Conference match from Beloit and then returned to beat Wartburg, 3-1 in a non-conference match.

In the day's opening match, the Lady Blues rolled to a 3-0 (25-6. 25-11, 25-8) sweep of Beloit to finish the Midwest Conference season with a 7-1 record. 

IC honored its seniors prior to the match, and both had impressive performances. Paige Knuffman posted 17 kills while classmate Maya Stovall recorded 10 digs.

Ligaya Garibay had 11 kills, a .556 hitting percentage with 10 digs while Summer Brandis dished out a match-high 37 assists and collected 17 digs. Jen Humbolt also had 17 digs for the victors.

In the nightcap, Brandis handed out 49 assists while Humbolt collected 26 digs to help lead the Lady Blues. Ella Middleton chipped in with 12 digs. The office featured a balanced attack. Knuffman's posted 15 kills while Alyssa Burglund had 14. Laura Kaiser and Garibay each had 13.

Illinois College will be in action next weekend when it travels to Mt. Vernon, Iowa for the annual Midwest Conference Tournament hosted by Cornell College.
