Garibay Named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week
GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's Ligaya Garibay has been named the Midwest Conference Volleyball Offensive Performer of the Week, the league announced today.
A 5-11 junior from Waukegan, Ill., Garibay was a standout offensively for the Lady Blues in conference victories over Knox College and Monmouth College last week.
In the Knox match, Garibay had a double-double with 14 kills and 15 digs. Garibay also recorded a career-high hitting percentage of .776 which is second all-time in school history. Against Monmouth, Garibay recorded 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .375 while adding nine digs.
For the week Garibay accumulated 24 kills and 24 digs and finished with a hitting percentage of .576, recording only one error on 42 attempts.
The Lady Blues (14-12 overall and 6-1 in Midwest Conference play) are in action on Wednesday when Greenville University comes to Sherman Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match.
