Blueboys Tennis Drop Pair Of Road Matches

Box Score 1 LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Illinois College men's tennis team hit the road for a pair of matches in the Chicagoland starting with Midwest Conference opponent in Lake Forest College which was followed up a 2:00PM non-conference match against Elmhurst. The Blueboys dropped the first match of the day against Lake Forest by the final score of 1-8 and then dropped the match against Elmhurst by the score of 4-5. 

Match 1: Illinois College 1, Lake Forest 8

IC got off to a tough start in doubles competition and dropped all three matches by the final scores of 1-8. 

In single matches, IC earned it's lone victory of the match from Grayson Dupre in the No. 3 singles match. Dupre dominated his opponent and opened the match with  a 6-1 victory. In the second set, Dupre stay locked in and eliminated his opponent with a 6-3 victory. 

Match 2: Illinois College 4, Elmhurst 5

The Blueboys got off to better start in doubles competition in the second match of the day against Elmhurst by taking one-of-three. IC earned the lone doubles victory match in the No. 1 doubles match. The duo of Jeff Wernsing and Glenn Conway controlled the match with a 8-2 victory. In the No. 2 doubles match, the team of Andrus Dupre and G. Dupre battled their opponents to a 4-8 loss. In the No. 3 doubles match, the duo of Momir Vickovic and Allen Oakley battled their opponents to a 5-8 defeat. 

In singles matches, IC picked up single match victories from the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions. In the No. 4 match, A. Dupre cruised past his opponent with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. 

The No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches both needed a tiebreaker set to determine a winner. In the No. 5 singles match, Oakley outlasted his opponent in a epic duel. Oakley opened the match with 5-7 loss but responded in the second set with a 6-3 victory that forced a tie breaker set. In the tie breaker set, Oakley went point-for-point with his opponent and took the upper hand for the 11-9 victory. 

In the No. 6 singles match, Vickovic opened his match with a 6-2 victory but ultimately dropped the second set that forced a tiebreaker set. In the tiebreaker set, Vickovic took control of the tiebreaker set and won by the score of 10-4. 

In the No. 2 singles match, Conway began his match with a 6-2 victory but dropped the second set by the score of 2-6. In the tiebreaker set, Conway battled to the finish but dropped the match 5-10. 

The Blueboys will have four days off before traveling to the Midwest Conferece Tournament on Thursday, April 25 in Madison, Wisconsin.
