Kendra Bass Caps Off Collegiate Career Shattering IC Single-Season Steals Record

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College women's basketball season came to a close at the 2023-24 Midwest Conference Tournament in the semifinal matchup against Knox College on February 23 at Ripon College.

At the 3:03 mark in the third quarter, Kendra Bass etched her name into the IC women's basketball history record book as she became the NEW ALL-TIME single-season steals record holder with her 79th steal of the season. This record-breaking performance broke Candy Norville's record of 78 from the 2008-09 season. Bass ended the game with a total of four steals that put her season total to 81 steals.

This season, Bass led the MWC with those 81 steals which averaged to 3.11 steals per game. In the first matchup against Lake Forest back on January 14, Bass recorded a career-high EIGHT steals that helped earn a 65-52 victory over the Foresters.

With the season officially over, Bass hangs up the Lady Blues jersey ranked third in the IC women's basketball history books with that 3.11 steals per game average for a single-season.

"Kendra has been a perfect example of hard work, resiliency, and loyalty to our program throughout her career.  She has earned every award and recognition she has received and I am so proud of the grit and determination she has shown in the 6 years she has been with us.  Her legacy will inspire others for many years to come" said Head Coach Jennifer McCormick.
