Lady Blues Golf Close Out 2023-24 Season At Millikin University

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois College women's golf team traveled and participated in the two-day Take Back the Night Challenge tournament hosted by Millikin University on Saturday and Sunday. The Lady Blues sent three student-athletes to the tournament as all three played as individuals at Red Tail Run Golf Course and South Side Country Club golf courses. 

Day 1: South Side Country Club

The Lady Blues opened the tournament at the South Side Country Club Golf Course that was led by Hannah Harpster with a 10-over par score of 82. In her first round, Harpster started on hole 11 with a par then followed up with a birdie on the par-3 12th hole. Harpster finished her first nine holes with five pars and three triple bogeys. On the final nine holes, Harpster was locked in as she recorded a four-over par score of 39. For the round, Harpster recorded nine pars, five bogeys, three double-bogeys, and one birdie. 

Coming in one-stroke behind Harpster was junior Alyvia Burr with a 11-over par score of 83. Burr started her opening round on the par-3 12th hole with a par. Five holes later on the next par-3, Burr had a fantastic approach shot where she sank the birdie putt. On the final nine holes, Burr recorded a five-over score of 41 that included five bogeys. For the round, Burr constructed seven pars, nine bogeys, and that birdie on hole 17.  

Rounding out the opening round for IC was Katie Mae Milhiser with a score of 90. Milhiser started her round on hole 10 as she recorded a first nine score of 44 that included three pars. For the round, Milhiser recorded four pars and 11 bogeys. 

Day 2: Red Tail Run Golf Course

IC traveled one and a half miles down the road to Red Tail Run Golf Course for the final round which was started at 8:00 AM. The Lady Blues were led by Milhiser with as she had a five-stroke improvement from day one with a 13-over score of 85. Milhiser started her final round on hole one with a bogey. Four holes later, Milhiser faced her first par-3 of the day and delivered a beautiful approach shot where she sank the birdie putt. On the back nine, Milhiser recorded a five-over par score of 41 that included five bogeys. For the round, Milhiser collected six pars, 10 bogeys, and that birdie on the fifth hole. For the tournament, Milhiser recorded a tournament score of 175 for a tie in 31st place overall.  

Chasing down Milhiser on the scorecard was Harpster as she fired a 14-over score of 86 for her final round. Harpster started this round with back-to-back pars on holes one and two. On hole three, Harpster delievered a great tee-shot and followed up with a fanstatic approach shot. Moments later, Harpster knocked down the birdie putt for her lone birdie of the round. On the back nine, Harpster added four pars that included a par on the 18th hole. For the tournament, Harpster constructed a tournament score of 168 which earned a tie for 22nd overall. 

Rounding out the tournament for IC was Burr with a final round of 94. In her final round, Burr collected five pars that included three pars-in-a-row on holes five through seven. Burr opened the back nine with a par on hole 10 and added another par on hole 12. For the tournament, Burr fired a tournament score of 177 which earned a tie for 36th overall. 

With the completion of this tournament, the Lady Blues golf team has officially closed out the 2023-24 season.
